Georgi ‘Jojo’ Dimitrov, 23 years old, completed his BA cum laude at the Kunstuniversität Graz with Paolo Pegoraro. He received the prestigious Bicentenary Scholarship from the Royal Academy of Music London where he is currently pursuing his MA under the guidance of Michael Lewin. He won several major prizes at international competitions, including 1st prize at the 5th International Guitar Competition Maurizio Biasini - cciMB in 2021, the European Bach Guitar Award in 2022, and the New Elizabethan Award in 2024. His album with a selection of Bach music (Naxos) was recommended by MusicWeb International as “one of the best guitar recordings of music by Bach … representing excellent technical facility, refined musicianship, and deep understanding of the music”. Georgi is the first-ever classical guitarist to perform at the prestigious Bachfest Leipzig, receiving critical acclaim. He is an active solo and chamber music performer. His repertoire ranges from music by Dowland and Bach to contemporary composers. His interest in composing and experimenting by blending musical genres has prompted Georgi to form the guitar and percussion Duo “Chase” together with his friend percussionist Sara Chakarova.
