Renowned for his emotive interpretations of romantic music, Flavio Banni boasts a diverse repertoire spanning from the renaissance to contemporary 21st-century compositions. He excels in transcribing and performing lute music from the 16th to the 18th centuries, while also collaborating with contemporary composers and unearthing hidden masterpieces dedicated to Andrès Segovia. Noteworthy is his guitar duo with Leo Zeijl, alongside collaborations with chamber music ensembles and solo recitals at prestigious venues.
His musical journey began at nine, soon winning prizes in local and national competitions before pursuing a formal education at the Conservatorio Giovanni Pierluigi Da Palestrina and later in Maastricht, the Netherlands, with Carlo Marchione, graduating cum laude in 2022. Currently, he continues his studies at the Musik-Akademie in Basel under the guidance of Pablo Marquez and through masterclasses with Europe's premier guitarists.
In addition to performing, Banni is dedicated to guitar education, volunteering to teach refugees and now teaching at a music school in Schaffhausen. He plays a single-top classical guitar crafted by the renowned Italian luthier, Rinaldo Vacca.
